March 2020 Update

desk-28.03.2020

Dear friends,

What a strange time we are living through! We hope that you are all staying safe and well and finding ways to protect yourself physically and mentally through this difficult situation. Thank you to everyone who has sent messages and been in touch, we feel very lucky to be able to stay in contact with you and support each other in this time.

We are currently living on Mersea Island on the Essex coast where we plan to stay for the time being, we are thankful to be with family, have space to work and a garden where we can watch the Spring arriving.

We had some really exciting screenings and performances planned for the coming months all of which have been cancelled now, it came as quite a blow to have everything we’d been working towards cancelled within a matter of days but it was the right thing to do and we look forward to being able to present these next year.

The Moving Image Salon would have been yesterday, it seems unlikely that it will be returning anytime soon, hopefully we can pick up again in the Autumn. In the meantime we are working on plans to do more through the Moving Image Artists website: we have a new issue of MIA Journal on the theme of ‘Landscapes & Nature’ almost ready to launch, some new articles in the pipeline and an exciting new venture that we’ll be announcing very soon! We are always open to proposals for articles for MIA, just email us with any questions and ideas.

Creatively for us it’s business as usual, some projects have been delayed but luckily we have some that we can be getting on with, for us the only way to stay sane is to create! An unexpected and exciting outcome of this enforced isolation is that we have finally started editing Plot Points, a feature film which we shot on the misty beaches of Portugal about two years ago but hadn’t had a chance to finish yet. We are currently using our time to focus on working through the hours of footage of that and slowly piecing it together.

Please stay safe friends, keep in touch and keep creating!

Love,
Daniel & Clara
