EXT. FIRE AT FAIRLIGHT GLEN
2017, 6 mins, VHS, colour
EXT. FIRE AT FAIRLIGHT GLEN is a short film capturing a rural ritual of fire, a burning beacon on a full moon evokes a sense of awe and terror as the rhythms of nature and the rhythms of the recorded image collide. This short film exists in a tradition of British painting and literature dealing with nature and the landscape, making particular reference to Our English Coasts by William Holman Hunt (which was painted in the same location) and Thomas Hardy’s Far From The Madding Crowd.
This work is a part of the Exteriors Series.
