A meditation on the eternal crashing of waves, the movement of oceans and the shifting shape of water, this is an expanded cinema performance about the place where sea meets land and how the water hits rocks over and over in a gradual shaping of the coastline. To meditate on the waves is to think of repetition and it is also to consider repetition as a form of change.
While VHS footage of the sea is projected on screen the artists create the sound effects of the crashing waves using the dismantled video tape on which the original footage was recorded. The visual qualities of analog video and the material of the video tape itself are used to create a hypnotic immersive experience. Alongside the creation of live sound the artists engage in a series of performed actions and interactions with the projection, reacting to and embodying the waves through movement, action and gesture.
